Sprint has announced that more Android phones in its lineup are now compatible with its Sprint DirectConnect Now Android app. The app allows for the following functionality when used on a plan with Sprint DirectConnect access:
- Sprint Direct Connect on 4G LTE capable devices
- New enhanced user experience
- Interoperable with Sprint® Direct Connect® devices
- Convenient touchscreen controls
- TeamDC and Opt-In TeamDC closed group calling
- Call alerts to notify others you want to talk without interrupting
- Displays contact image for speaker
- Synchronizes contacts with device’s address book
- Create favorites for most contacted Direct Connect® contacts
The expanded compatible phone list includes the following new and recent releases:
- Samsung Galaxy S 4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 3
- LG G2
- LG G Flex
- LG Optimus F3
- Kyocera Hydro Edge
Future phones to be added to the support list include the following:
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
- Samsung Galaxy Mega
- Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark
Sprint has yet to roll out a long-promised update to the app that is supposed to allow international interoperability (with no roaming support) with Latin American Nextel customers also using either dedicated push to talk devices, Prip service or the local version of the same app.
