Sprint today also launched the Sanyo SCP-7050. Despite reports from others, including Sanyo itself, today is the first day the phone is officially available for purchase. The Sanyo 7050 is the first Sprint CDMA phone to feature an autonomous GPS receiver. This allows it to continue GPS tracking even when a signal is not available (gpsOne in CDMA phones requires a PCS signal in order to gain an initial GPS lock).
In addition, the SCP-7050 is built to comply with Military 810F standards for durability (in terms of dust, shock, and vibration). The Sanyo 7050 is available for $99.99 after rebate with new two-year agreement, $299.99 without contract.
