AT&T Announces LTE Data Pricing and Device Launch

Following AT&T’s initial announcement of its first two LTE devices last month, the carrier has confirmed pricing for LTE data service on its lineup of mobile broadband devices.

The Momentum 4G (pictured right) will cost $49.99 with a new two-year contract and the Elevate 4G (pictured left) will cost $69.99 after the same terms. Both devices are manufactured by Sierra Wireless will support HSPA+ for coverage outside of LTE coverage areas, include a microSD slot, GPS support, and support Mac OS X at launch. The Elevate 4G will also have a 1.77-inch LCD display for access to device information and real time-data usage along with support for up to five connected devices for up to five hours.

The two LTE products will launch at the same time before AT&T rolls out its first five LTE markets in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, which were all test markets and close to AT&T’s current and former corporate bases in Dallas and Atlanta respectively. Pricing for LTE data access is set at $50/month for 5GB of data per month with a $10/GB overage rate past 5GB. AT&T has also confirmed that the USBConnect Adrenaline will have a firmware update pushed out to it enabling LTE service beginning August 26th. AT&T plans to have 15 markets covering 70 million people with LTE service by the end of the year.
