Nokia and Sony Ericsson have announced the availability of Nokia’s
Intellisync email platform on the P990 and the M600, which are both
smart devices. This will make it easier for owners of both devices to receive real-time email, and synchronize both contact/calendar information. This extends the relationship that both companies have formed over recent years.
This is yet another increase in battles between Intellisync and Microsoft Exchange, both of which are competing with BlackBerry’s push email service. Fueled by the recent adoption of P-IMAP by Apple, Nokia has opened the platform to third-party support. Sony Ericsson already supports P-IMAP for consumer-focused use on its higher-end devices.
