According to an anonymous senior executive working for Swiss carrier Swisscom speaking on condition of anonymity to Italian site iPhone Italia, the 5th generation of the iPhone will be launched in the US on September 5th, with the global launch set for a month later on October 5th.
The 5th generation of the iPhone and related iPod Touch has yet to be confirmed, but recent investor reports from Apple and Verizon confirm that the new device will be launched in the Fall rather than the previously typical Summer timeframe for each version until the iPhone 4 due to the staggered launch of the Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 and the improved sales potential of the Fall launch due to back to school sales and the holiday shopping season.
The next iPhone is expected to keep the same bodyshape as the iPhone 4 with an upgraded 8.0 megapixel camera unit and the dual-core A5 as found in the iPad 2, but more detailed specifications have yet to even be revealed, let alone confirmed such as the potential for 4G connectivity or storage past the currently self imposed 32GB limit.
The move to the Fall timeframe for the annual iPhone launch has proven to be a net positive for Apple as it has sold twice as many smartphones during the second quarter of this year compared to previous years with Summer iPhone launches.

Haha, I can not believe they pulled the identical stunt as last time by leaving an iPhone 5 somewhere. Surely if you had one thing like that you would not let it out of you sight! even for a second
