Nokia has officially confirmed on its Facebook page that the forthcoming N9 flagship smart device will be running MeeGo as previously planned, dashing rumors from earlier today that the operating system was changed to Symbian Anna in the wake of abandoning its partnership with intel in favor of a partnership with Microsoft for its smart device lineup earlier this year.
The page also includes a teaser video for the forthcoming device which will feature a 12 megapixel camera with full autofocus instead of the Enhanced Depth of Field lens as found on the predecessor E7 as well as a dual LED flash, although further technical specifications have yet to be confirmed. The MeeGo initiative will be hosting its conference next week in San Francisco whereby hardware vendors and intel are expected to make the first major announcements regarding commercial availability of MeeGo based products such as netbooks, smartphones and tablets along with less common applications such as in-car entertainment and embedded hardware applications.
