Best Buy has announced the addition of WiMax service from Clearwire as a part of its Connect branded mobile broadband service. The service consists of two $45 unlimited service plans, with a 2 year agreement adding a $150 discount to qualifying laptops while a month-to-month plan is also offered without a hardware subsidy. This follows the launch of Best Buy Connect last summer by purchasing wholesale 3G access from Sprint, effectively making Best Buy Connect a Sprint MVNO and now a Clearwire MVNO.
Interesting approach in terms of marketing, wish marketing formula was available on all carriers with all plans and devices, however since nothing is “clear” when it comes to ClEARWIRE & WIMAX and their (2 year) longterm future, making the month to month a more attractive deal, that is if it is truly “UNLIMITED”. Thank You
Do we need any specialized hardware for using Wimax or a normal smart phone is sufficient?
