Virtual operator Consumer Cellular has announced that it is now offering a new service with its first smartphone in the Mobile Captions service for the hard of hearing.
The service is bundled with the Nokia E5 and is powered by a built-in app tied to the Hamilton Relay Service. The Mobile Captions service works by placing a phone call, the relay service picking up the call and begins transcription as soon as the other party answers, with the text being transmitted and displayed on screen.The service is provided at no additional charge, but is only available in one of the 10 states where the Hamilton Relay Service is licensed to operate.
