T-Mobile Data Plan Changes on November 3rd

T-Mobile will be making wholesale changes to its handset data plan structure in order to introduce its own version of tiered data access.

Starting November 3rd, it will introduce a data counter for customers to check and manage data usage along with a new tier list for devices to determine which data plans are appropriate.

Feature Phones: 
200 MB of data as the primary option. This data plan is not required as customers can also choose to use data on pay-per-use basis. 
Midrange Smartphones:
Phones like the Motorola Charm and LG Optimus T are in this tier with two options offered for these devices in the 200 MB plan and an unlimited data plan.
The 200 MB plan will be subject to overage charges past 200MB at $0.10/MB with the cap set at $30. A speed reduction warning message will also be sent at 5GB of usage on postpay accounts.
T-Mobile will send a warning text message to FlexPay/prepaid customers at 180 MB of data usage and cut data service at 200MB, with pricing set at $10 per month with or without a contract.
High-end Smartphones:
The HTC G2, the Samsung Vibrant, the HTC HD2 and any of the BlackBerry devices will be classed in this tier with unlimited data required and no other option available. Throttling will be enabled when 5 GB of data usage is done in a single billing cycle with no overages and a speed reduction message will be sent. The unlimited plan will be priced at $30 and $25 respectively on Even More and Even More Plus.
