Speaking during the first full day of the 4G World conference on Tuesday, Clearwire Chief Commercial Officer Mike Sievert has confirmed that its LTE tests have yielded speeds of up to 90Mbps in multiple antennae configurations during driving tests.
Special attention was paid to 10×10 MHz and 20×20 MHz MIMO network configurations with equipment provided by Samsung and Huawei for the tests.
In the 10×10 MIMO configuration it achieved peak download speeds of 50mbps, while in the 20×20 configuration, 90Mbps speeds were achieved with 30Mbps peak upload speeds. As a basis of comparison Verizon’s preliminary LTE network rollout later this year promises peak download speeds of 5Mbps-12Mbps, and peak upload speeds of 2Mbps-5Mbps which are comparable to Clearwire’s current peak WiMax speeds .
