Mac OS X 10.4.6 Improves Tethering, Sync Support

This week, Apple released Mac OS X 10.4.6. Some improvements to Bluetooth support have corrected many issues in regards to both tethering over Bluetooth and sync over Bluetooth.

Audiovox/UTStarcom PPC-6600 and XV6600 owners no longer need to use solutions developed by PCS Intel to use their devices as a modem. By choosing “Any Device” during the Setup Assistant, Mac OS X now properly detects the Dial-Up Networking Profile in the device. It also improves support for Windows Mobile 5 device tethering, such as the PPC-6700 and Treo 700w.

iSync has also been updated to 2.2 as part of the 10.4.6 update. Apple today issued a statement cautioning users that they will lose their sync history, and will have to perform an initial sync of phones before continuing to use iSync.
