Samsung has quietly released a new update for the nearly two year old Samsung Epix on AT&T that updates the device to Windows Mobile 6.5 after first being announced for release late last year, then being delayed for unknown reasons. The update is also unique in that it requires 32-bit versions of Windows Vista in order to deploy and install the update for the device and will not run under any other version of Windows.
The Samsung Epix was launched in 2008 by AT&T, albeit now discontinued from sale via direct sales channels.
It is possible that Samsung was required to update the device, in order to appease corporate large purchase orders. However, Samsung has not commented on the update or the delays involved in its release.
There is also an updater is you have Windows XP. It is just Windows 7 that is unsupported for this, although I was able to update fine using my 7 machine.
Me too. Worked fine following the Vista directions on my Window 7 (32-bit) laptop.
