According to this forum thread, Best Buy has begun selling the Virgin Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8530 ahead of its official release date later this month. Naturally, this means that the device cannot be activated until its official release date. Virgin Mobile has also quietly confirmed that MMS will be available on the device as soon as a “minor technical issue†is resolved.
The new Virgin handset can be activated right now. The official launch date was the 17th. So go on ahead and activate your Blackberry and enjoy!
does anyone know if you can use other blackberry series 8500s for virginmobile?
@Jouan: No. Only the Blackberry 8530 specifically distributed by Virgin Mobile. I plan on buying one in July. Hopefully all “minor technical issues” will be resolved by that time.
