During the TD-LTE Showcase Network Opening Ceremony held during the Shanghai Expo last night, Motorola announced the commercial readiness of products and services based on the emerging TD-LTE standard that is proving increasingly popular for carriers and manufacturers due to its lower cost in terms of spectrum and increased performance compared to the frequency division based networks slowly rolling out around the world.
To that end, Motorola is demonstrating its TD-LTE based USB dongle by showcasing a high-definition video wall running 24 simultaneous video streams, remote monitoring applications and high-speed Internet browsing as well as seamless handoffs between both standards. The demonstration is being conducted in partnership with China Mobile.
The USB dongle will be launched in the future with support for both FD and TD-LTE based networks and dual-band compatibility on the 2.3 and 2.6GHz bands.
