Novatel has confirmed that it is currently developing a version of the critically acclaimed Mi-Fi 3G router modem, with a prototype version reaching 18Mbps throughput during testing. The chipset in the prototype is sourced from manufacturer Beceem with support for theoretical maximum speeds of 30Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
Novatel has also confirmed that it is developing a new device using Qualcomm’s Wearable Mobile Device Module platform. The platform consists of a CDMA 1x or EV-DO radio, Bluetooth, GPS, an accelerometer, and USB 2.0 input, with no further details available on devices under development using the platform from Novatel.
