Following up on the news of the forthcoming HTC Droid Incredible update, Verizon Wireless has confirmed that the smartphone will usher in the debut of the V CAST App Store on Android after first being made available across its BlackBerry lineup earlier this year. The V CAST App Store is Verizon’s own app store offering exclusives such as V CAST Tones and V CAST Video, as well as apps from third-party developers who have previously submitted apps to Verizon for prior approval and inclusion. As alluded to in the previous article, the V CAST App Store will also support carrier billing direct to Verizon Wireless accounts while the standard Android Market lacks support for the feature.
Verizon has released an official statement:
“Verizon Wireless will begin pushing a software update to the DROID Incredible next week. The update includes software enhancements that will pre-install V CAST Apps on the phone. We said earlier this year that we’d be expanding V CAST Apps to the Android platform, and the DROID Incredible is the first Android phone with the store. Developers continue to submit apps, and as a reminder, V CAST Apps allows carrier billing, so customers who purchase applications through our store will see those charges on their monthly bill. For more information about the update customers can go to www.verizonwireless.com/droidincrediblesupport.”
