The Verizon variant of the forthcoming BlackBerry Storm 2 has been revealed thanks to tech columnist Walt Mossberg.
The device on Verizon will be updated with a new display configuration that moves away from the mechanical SurePress into a more conventional touch display input, Wi-Fi radio, BlackBerry OS 5.0, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and video capture and 16 GB internal memory with additional microSDHC expansion slot.
Verizon is expected to launch the Storm 2 for $199.99 in November.
I hope that this phone is a major improvement. I currently have the storm but it has mechanical issues such as cuts off on its own, can’t end calls sometimes, phone freezes up, screen blends with other menues (overlap), the touch screen doesn’t react to what you want to do with the phone (i.e. if I want to send a text message, then the icon for internet will open). The only way to clear this problem is by constantly takin the battery out and resetting the unit. I am still iffy about getting the storm 2 but I am excited about seeing its qualities and what it has to offer. Hopefully I won’t have to do an warranty claim (three in less than a year due to mechanical problems). Overall it is a descent phone.
