Sprint has begun rolling out a new firmware update for Samsung Exclaim users after the last attempted push caused devices to lock up while attempting to perform the initial update.
Update CL03 is now being rolled out to correct an SMS counter issue, and Sprint recommends taking the device to a Service and Repair location if anymore problems are encountered trying to install the update again.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE STORE TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED, ALTHOUGH SPRINT RECOMMENDS IT.
YOU CAN JUST CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVE THEM TRANSFER YOU TO TECH. SUPPORT.
THEY WILL THEN HAVE YOU GO TO YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS AND ERASE WEB CACHE AND HISTORY AND SMS MESSAGES.
THEN THEY WILL REPROGRAM YOUR PHONE AND IT WILL BE JUST FINE.
THE WHOLE PROCESS TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES, DEPENDING ON HOW QUICKLY YOU MOVE!!!
JUST AN FYI TO ALL
LEMME KNOW IF IT HELPED!!!!
How does erasing things and reprogamming the phone upgrade your firmware?
I’m assuming you can get this update via OTA using the update firmware menu option without having to call or go anywhere.
I suspect JP may be referring to an internal memo that notes a workaround, bypassing the need for the firmware. Samsung may have issued the update to avoid an issue so that it doesn’t require a workaround.
Like Sprint says, update first, and if you still have issues… call tech support or take the phone to a service and repair center.
Nothing changed. I was hoping for like an iPhone 3.0 type deal but no.
