Sprint has launched the CDMA Treo Pro with little fanfare or even an official announcement.
It replaces the Treo 800w in the lineup and is sourced from HTC, which has been Palm’s Windows Mobile device manufacturer since the newly ascendant company began offering Windows Mobile devices in the Treo lineup.
The device features a 2.4 inch touchscreen display set at 320×320 resolution, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, hotkeys for messaging and device navigation, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, GPS transceiver, 3.5mm headphone jack, 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder, and EVDO Rev. A data access.
It is now available for a rather reasonable price of $349.99 after new 2 year agreement and $200 instant discount before an additional $100 mail-in rebate when purchased with an Everything plan or PRO Pack data, bringing the total to $249.99.
Update: Sprint has suddenly pulled the listing from the online store. The official release date for the device is this Sunday January, 25th.
Update 2: Sprint has confirmed to PhoneNews.com that the page was offered in error, and that the Treo Pro is still pending approval. Sprint did however confirm that they hope to offer the Treo Pro in the very near future.
It’s not listed among the available phones anymore, whut the problem is?
Looks Like they jumped the gun this morning. I’ll update.
Bring on the pre! I no longer care about this phone!
Daniel,
Pre is May 2009. By the time Pre comes out you will be saying “I no longer care about the Pre. Bring on…” (fill in what ever is hyped but not available in May).
The Pro is a solid device and a much needed replacement for the problem ridden 800W. Sprint and Palm need WM devices. Corporate environments are not going to jump on untested operating systems, that takes a couple of quarters after full consumer release at least.
Will it be for sale by 1/25, I read 2/8 elsewhere
It should be up for sale on Sunday online, with the 2/8 being the date for retail availability.
