Sprint CEO Reveals Plans at Investor Conference

At an investor conference, Gary Forsee revealed major plans for flat rate calling, business customers on iDEN, and its partnership with cable companies. Read More for
details.

Sprint is considering offering an unlimited flat rate calling rate plan under
the Boost Mobile brand to compete with smaller companies like Metro PCS
or Cricket (Leap Wireless), which have seen massive success in historically competitive
markets for national carriers like Dallas/FortWorth, Los Angeles, and
Detroit.

The local calling service would use the CDMA network instead of iDEN, which is associated with Boost.

The service would be offered in markets that are not served by either Metro PCS or Cricket and have additional capacity for CDMA voice service to prevent cannibalizing other services.

This service would be targeted towards new customers, as well as customers who would otherwise leave for another carrier.

Gary Forsee also stated that more attention will be paid to business customers this year, especially those on iDEN now that Power Source devices will be launching nationally next week.

The company also plans to work with its cable company partners to offer
wireless service, and are still working on a framework for cable
operators to take advantage of the WiMax network when available.
