Palm once again has been caught in a firmware update debacle. The company this past week has pulled both its Treo 700p and Treo 700w/wx updates that it released within the past month. Palm also in the past month had to pull a Sprint Treo 700p update, as it was bricking (destroying) phones upon update.

The recent wave of update pulls stem from a data connection issue with Verizon’s EV-DO network. Customers encounter frequent Error 3000 (which is a non-descriptive CDMA network busy error). Palm has confirmed the presence of this error and is working to isolate and fix the issue. Palm does not have a timeframe for re-issuing the update, and they do not have a temporary fix for those that have already updated.
