Pricing and launch details have surfaced
on the V CAST TV service by Verizon. The service, powered by Qualcomm’s
MediaFLO broadcast platform will be the first widely available non-cellular mobile
television service in the US.
Pricing for the service is split up
into three packs.
Limited is priced at $13 per month and includes CBS,
NBC, NBC News, and FOX Mobile.
Basic is priced at $15 and adds
Comedy Central, ESPN, MTV, and Niickelodeon, while Select is priced at
$25 a month and merely adds Basic content on top of normal VCAST and
Mobile Web access with a $5 discount.
Launch cities should include:
Jacksonville, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Omaha, Wichita, Albuquerque,
Santa Fe, Colorado Springs, Denver, Dallas, Las Vegas, Portland, Salt
Lake City, Seattle, Tucson, Atlanta, Richmond, New Orleans, New York,
Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Long Island, Philadelphia, and St. Louis. The
Samsung U620 is expected to be the first phone launched for the service, which is expected in March.
