HTC Announces S522 as Successor to Dash/Excalibur

ImageHTC has announced the forthcoming release of the successor to the Dash/Excalibur in the Snap, which will be branded as the S522 when it launches later in the second quarter in the US and Europe.

The device is greatly improved over the Excalibur with a QVGA landscape display, Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, quadband GSM/EDGE, A-GPS, dual band US HSDPA on 850/1900 MHz, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, Qualcomm 7501a with 256MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM running at 528 MHz, speakerphone, and 2.0 megapixel camera with video recorder.

Aesthetically the device now features a trackball as well as an improved QWERTY keyboard, and the device also marks the introduction of a new software feature from HTC dubbed Inner Circle which prioritizes email importance from selected contacts to the top of the inbox.

The S522 will be released in the summer with no immediate word on pricing at this time.
