Sprint Nextel, Orange, NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone, KPN, T-Mobile, and China Mobile have formed a new initiative. The Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) initiative, stationed in the United Kingdom, has been formed to enable carriers to work together in creating one single global platform for communication.
The carriers have stated clearly that this initiative has been deployed to look beyond existing EV-DO and HSPA technologies, and onward towards 4G wireless standards.
PCS Intel delivered groundbreaking coverage on such ventures previously. Qualcomm has made inroads over the past several years to unify existing W-CDMA and CDMA2000 standards in preparation for 4G wireless technologies, setting the stage for a Global CDMA Standard, reinforced with a secondary IP-based 4G wireless network.
