AT&T and RIM have jointly rolled out the first major update for the BlackBerry Torch. The update mainly features speed improvements, including faster page loading and improved panning in the browser, improved device response after unlocking, faster application launching, exiting and switching, graphics rendering and smoother transitions on the home screen.
Other improvements include faster rendering of picture thumbnails in the album application and faster/smoother scrolling in the message list as well as when reading email. Another major improvement outside of the speed improvements centers on improved audio quality for phone calls and the media player. The update which updates the software version to 6.0.0.695 will roll out in the next few weeks over the air and is also available as a manual update from AT&T and RIM.
