Today at the NXTComm conference in Chicago, AT&T has officially
announced the launch of its Video Share one-way video calling service
for compatible phones.
The service works when one compatible phone dials another, and both
users hit the camera/Video Share
button to start and accept the call provided the call is being placed
in a 3G service area.
The service is currently available
in the Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Atlanta markets, with more
markets to be launched next month and is currently priced in three
tiers: 35 cents per minute, $4.99 per month for 25 minutes per month,
or $9.99 for 60 minutes a month of Video Share calling, on top
of airtime charges, with the Samsung SYNC, A717, and LG CU500v as the
only models to support Video Share at this time..
