KitchenSync dropped this tidbit of information:
“they are just doing some very intense testing with this handset since it (the Samsung A660/VI660) will be Sprint’s first FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) handset…….”
Firmware Over The Air will allow you to update your handset’s firmware as easily as it is to obtain a PRL update. You would call customer service (or visit a web page), and have your account flagged for a FOTA request, which would result in the phone getting a URL to access the updated firmware (Actually, that’s easier than a PRL update…).
In other words, no more needing to travel to a corporate Sprint Store, and convincing a tech that there is new firmware, then having to wait for them to download it to their systems, and finally upload it to your phone.
